Australia - Wine and Dine Itineraries

Australia has one of the most vibrant and exciting dining scenes of any country on earth. Passionate chefs, a vast array of fresh produce, a culinary style that has evolved from a rich and exciting intermingling of cultures - and some fabulous backdrops - have transformed the act of sitting down at a restaurant or café into an exhilarating experience. The Australian wine industry is the world`s fourth largest exporter of wine. Australia is known for big, supple, mouthfilling white and red wines. The majority of Australia`s vineyards are clustered in the southeastern part of the continent, relatively near the major cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Some of the key wine growing areas in Australia include;

Barossa Valley: Located at north east of Adelaide. Penfolds is one of the more famous wineries in this region. Barossa is renowned for its Rieslings which is indicative of the Valley's German heritage, and for the reds such as Shiraz and Cabernets.

Hunter Valley: Located north of Sydney. Some of the more notable vineyards include Rosemount, and Rothbury. A variety of wines are grown in the Hunter Valley, including Shiraz and Semillon.
Yarra Valley: Located in Victoria, north east of Melbourne. The Pinot Noir is popular here and one of the better wines from this area is Coldsteam Hills.

The Adelaide Hills: Just half an hour from the seaside city of Adelaide. Its reputation is growing rapidly as more and more high-profile wine makers recognize the potential of this area for very high-quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and sparkling wine.
